Prototyping Sessions

Book a 1:1 session to build a project of your choice — guided making and studio time, no experience required.

A prototyping session is dedicated time to make the thing you have been meaning to make. You bring the idea; we pair with you 1:1, teach you the tools you need, and give you studio time to build it — start to finish.

What every session includes

1:1 pairing

Work side by side with a maker who helps you scope the project, choose an approach, and stay unstuck.

Guided making

Learn the tools as you use them — CAD, 3D printing, soldering, sewing, woodworking, and more — hands on your own build.

Studio time

Time and space in the shop with the equipment and materials you need to actually finish something.

Something to take home

Leave with a working prototype (or a clear next step) and the skills to keep building on your own.

How it works

1

Bring an idea

A rough sketch, a Pinterest board, or a half-formed “I wish this existed.” Any starting point works.

2

Make a plan together

We figure out the simplest way to build it, which tools to use, and what to make first.

3

Build it

You do the making with guidance at every step — no prior experience required.

What you can make

There is no set menu — sessions are built around your project. To spark ideas, here are a few things people come in to make:

  • A custom-embroidered or heat-pressed piece of apparel
  • A 3D-printed part, bracket, or replacement for something that broke
  • A small electronics build — solder a kit or breadboard an Arduino idea
  • A woodworking project like a shelf, stand, or small piece of furniture
  • A sewn or textile project, from a tote to a repair
  • Whatever you have in mind — bring the idea and we will find a way to make it
