Desk Job Design Lab is a prototyping studio in Industry City. We offer hands-on workshops focused on CAD modeling, 3D printing, electronics, and Arduino programming. Our classes are designed for beginners and experienced makers alike—no prior experience necessary and all ages welcome.

Founder & Instructor
I started Desk Job Design Lab because I think prototyping is one of the most important skills you can learn. It's the ability to take an idea seriously and turn it into something real. You build a first version, you learn what's true, you improve it, and you repeat. That loop is the point.
With a background in software engineering, product design, and creative fabrication, I've seen how these skills translate across different mediums.
Desk Job Design Lab exists to teach that process across both digital and physical work. Most people are already curious and creative—we're here to give you the tools, skills, and confidence to act on that, and to keep building long after one project is done.
Got an idea you want to make real, but not sure what the build path is? In this fast 1:1 session, we'll pressure-test your concept and figure out the best next steps.
This is the planning session for turning an idea into an actual prototype. We'll go deep enough to turn chaos into a build plan: scope, materials, tools, constraints, and next steps.
An in-depth 3-hour session to fully scope your idea and lock a build plan. This is for when you don't just want "direction" — you want momentum. We'll treat this like a real build session.
A full-day studio sprint to go from idea → build. This is for when you want a real day of momentum in the shop — not just strategy. We'll use the day to design, source materials, and build your prototype.
Weekly open studio time for makers to work on personal projects with access to all tools and equipment. Bring your own projects and visit the workshop. Perfect for independent work and collaboration.
